DASELL awarded contract as OEM supplier of A380 lavatories
In a worldwide invitation for tenders DASELL prevailed over international
rivals and was awarded the contract for the development and production of
lavatories as the OEM supplier for the new Airbus A380, the world‘s most
modern and largest long-haul aircraft.
Already from the beginning of 2002 DASELL has been involved in the aesthetic
design of sanitary equipment for the A380. In 2002, DASELL has presented a prototype
for a refreshment centre (3-room concept) and for a First Class Lavatory. Since 2003,
DASELL has been assigned responsibility for engineering and manufacturing in the future,
in close cooperation with Airbus Industrial Design.
Planning for the passenger version of the A380 foresees 15 to 20 sanitary
units distributed among the main and upper decks. Lavatory floorplans can
vary depending on location and class. A number of different features such
as windows, wall colours, décor, shelf layout,
design of the service area, wash basin design and air showers ensure the
fulfillment of the full range of customer needs. In fulfilling these
customer needs DASELL is building on experience gained in the past 10 years
from the design and manufacture of prior programs (single aisle and
long range aircraft for Airbus). DASELL Cabin Interior
is especially proud to continue being the exclusive supplier of lavatories
to all Airbus programs.
