Dasell Delivers the 5,000th Lavatory for Airbus.
On Friday, 10th December 1999 DASELL Cabin Interior, located in Hamburg-Finkenwerder, delivered the 5,000th lavatory (as it is called in the aerospace field) to their client, Daimler Chrysler Aerospace Airbus. This lavatory is destined to be built into an Airbus A321 belonging to German Lufthansa.
DASELL, a joint venture between the Britax Sell and Daimler Chrysler Aerospace Airbus companies, since beginning production in 1993 has developed into one of the largest manufacturers of airline toilets in the world. DASELL's two managing directors state matter-of-factly, "We view ourselves as an Airbus partner." Between 1,100 and 1,300 lavatories are produced annually. The production of other interior components such as storage bins, cabin partitions, luggage boxes and special components for business jets represent DASELL's second main pillar. A "round" number has also been reached in this area. A partition with a sequential serial number of 1,000 was delivered to TAM Airline.
DASELL employs a team of approximately 180 qualified employees, who with competence and existing know-how fulfill the requirements for high standards of quality and safety in cabin interior components in the aerospace industry. The Luftfahrt-Bundesamt (Federal Office of Civil Aeronautics) confirms this with licences as a manufacturer and maintenance/repair operation. Due to the good order book situation at Airbus DASELL will also be working to capacity in the coming years.
